This is a super fun fusion of steps and style used in a variety of Cuban dances!!!! Participants learn dance patterns combining a variety of Cuban styles that can be used on the dance floor when dancing without a partner or when you want to add style to your partner work.
We’re so happy to announce this amazing workshop at long last!!!!! Those of you who have been part of the Toquidance family know that we’ve been wanting to bring the fabulous Ana Rosa Curbelo to Boulder for a while and the stars finally aligned!!!!

This will be an injection of Cuban style!!!
Ana Rosa is coming to us from El Cerro in Havana via Texas where she has been residing most recently. For those Cuban salsa aficionados, you know what they say “El Cerro tiene la llave”!!!! Well this is the key to unlock el sabor Cubano in you!!!
Ana Rosa started her dance career at Casa de Cultura del Cerro. She also studied at the Dance School at Teatro de las Americas under Director Jorge Alfaro. She has danced for several dance companies including Compañía Pinos Nuevos and JJ and was selected to teach and perform in Russia while working for the entertainment team Macumba. After several years in Russia she returned to Havana where she worked as a lead instructor at the famous Casona del Son and where she and Toqui met. Now we are lucky to be able to bring her to Boulder to share her talent with us!!!
This will be a three hour workshop with the main focus on playful Cuban body movement and footwork that you can incorporate into your partner dancing. Some dance experience is necessary to participate.
11 to 12- Footwork and body movement fusion of Afro, Urban and Popular dances from Cuba.
12 to 1- Rumba
1 to 2 -Cuban salsa incorporating body movement and footwork from the first and second hour when dancing with partner
For the first hour Leads will be with Toqui and follows with Ana Rosa. The second and third hours will be leads and follows together with Toqui and Ana Rosa.
Workshop is $65 for the three hours. $80 at the door. Participants are encouraged to register ahead of time.

This is a special event since normally we only do Matinées at Barchetta. We are doing an evening event so we can enjoy dancing after the workshop with Ana Rosa Curbelo on the morning of March 16th.
Although there is no Matinée in March, Barchetta opens its doors some Sunday afternoons so that we can enjoy this Cuban social. Only the best Cuban music will play, so come and join us to dance, eat pizza and/or have some drinks in the company of your favorite casineros and reparteros!!!!!
There is no cover, however, we ask that you support the restaurant with your business and Toqui with your tips since he's not getting paid other than by tips!
